1. Introduction

We all know at some point that we need to lose a bit of weight as we try to squeeze ourselves into that pair of jeans and failing miserably and yet when we think of losing weight we shudder and comfort ourselves and start to tuck-in to a bar of chocolate. In desperate hope, most look to diets or weight-loss pills and will pay a price for it too but there is a free and fun alternative which is far better for your general well-being. I will tell you how you can lose weight as I did naturally.

2. My story

I went on a field trip with my college to Swanage for a weekend in which we would be going all around the coast-what they didn't explain was how many miles we were going to walk! If you know your geography-we went from Durdledoor and walked over the hills until we reached Cuckmere Haven which would be around 4 miles. It was a great challenge but with the support of my friends, I walked the whole distance with only a 5 minute break in between. On the second day,which we had to leave on, we went around the conservation area and went for 10 or so miles up hill all the time too!
When I got home, exhausted and thirsty, I randomly decided to weigh myself-just hoping that it would have done me good. I nearly went to catch the next train to Swanage as I had found that I had lost 1.3 stone!

I thought it was impossible but there you go-exercise wins 1 over pills! Weeks later and I still had no side effects and to this day I never have.

The truth about pills and diets

Unfortunately for us, big TNC's (trans-national companies) make a profit from us who want to chicken out and take the easy route. If you are insisted on paying for pills, check where they come from, if the company is trusted and definitely check customer reviews of the product on either Google or Bing etc. I would also stress that although Acai is the 'Superfood' you MUST find out where it comes from, what the strength is,how it is processed and customer reviews but I have tried Acai and not yet found one that actually works and that is also affordable. Nearly all pills rely on a metabolical changer.(for those of you who don't know, it changes how fast you store carbs as fat and how fast you burn fat.)

This means that as soon as you come off them, you weight will go back to what it was originally of gain even more in some cases. Diets also only benefit some people as some tend to just put on weight during a diet or some just can't keep the weight off after. Weight Watchers would be the best to go with if you consider dieting as a group. Also, dieting with a partner or just getting support for your dieting will help you to stay on it. Another thing - don't look at the scales and think 'This is hopeless' as it takes a while to work it off.

This is the hardest bit but it must be faced at some point!

- Drinking water instead of other drinks really does help you to lose weight faster
- Join an exercise class ie aerobics as you can make new friends and you won't have to do it alone. I tend to do aerobics on my own at home as I am very self-conscious and enjoy it just as much, even though I have exercise as a rule. Aerobics is easy to do and seems like a type of dance when you do it.
- Eat healthily - you must be sick of reading this but actually once you stop the sweet stuff you just get hooked on the fibres! When I gave up sweet food-stuffs, I just couldn't stop eating carrots.
- Exercise regularly. I walk to and from college every day which is about a 2 mile walk in total. Take a walk around the block, dog walking is fun, go jogging. I did much more walking than I needed to on my field trip but it just shows the power of a good bit of exercise.
- Don't give up! Stay positive! Because you are always one step closer to your dream every day.
